Meet the Heart of the House: Aziza & Mbarak with us since 2005 and Layla more recently

What truly makes this riad feel like home is not just the space — it’s the people who care for it.
Aziza and Mbarak have been with our family since the very beginning, tending to the riad with quiet pride, kindness, and integrity. For nearly two decades, they have welcomed guests from around the world with warmth and attentiveness .
The authorities love “demarcation” so when Aziza & particularly Mbarak show you around the locality they will walk a little ahead of you to avoid being fined on the spot !! There is a breed of professional guides but they will try to guide you to the shops were they get a “cut” if you buy !!
Aziza
House Manager & Chef Extraordinaire
Aziza is the soul of the house. As our trusted house manager and the culinary genius behind every meal, she ensures that your stay is seamless,.. Her cooking has been described by guests as the best in Marrakech— and many return year after year just to taste her tagines .
She or Layla prepare daily breakfasts at your preferred time and Aziza offers lunches and dinners upon request, often tailored to your taste. Her attention to detail goes far beyond the kitchen — Aziza arranges private taxis, accompanies guests to the traditional hammam, organises in-house treatments .
Hannan is our in house experienced masseuse and a hour on the table in our dedicated massage room is a well worth 350 dhs .
Aziza speaks fluent French and conversational English, and most importantly, the universal language of hospitality.

Layla
Layla is our valued third staff member who assists Aziza necessary when Aziza does the banking , keeps the records of expenses, does the shopping , pays the utilities etc
Mbarak
Caretaker & Guide
Mbarak is the quiet presence behind the scenes who keeps the house and utilities flowing smoothly. From early-morning walks through the quieter corners of Marrakech, to tending the garden, courtyard, and pool, to ensuring the house is secure . When enjoying the terrace at night do make sure lights candles are off and door is firmly shut.
Mbarak also assists with supplies, can arrange a trip at your own risk on the back of the mobylette to buy some wine or beer as limited stores sell alcohol and are outside the medina and both Aziza & Mbarak are always happy to guide you gently through the local winding streets if it’s your first time in the Medina.

A Different Kind of Care
Unlike many riads, Aziza , Mbarak and Layla are fully registered with local authorities and we pay for their social security benefits . This has always been important to us — that the people who care for the house are cared for in return.
We trust our staff completely, and guests should do too.
If you’d like someone to remain on-site overnight for peace of mind, either Aziza or Mbarak will be happy to do so.
I hope you would wish to leave a gratuity at the end of your stay, this is entirely optional but always greatly appreciated. Many guests choose to offer 300–350 MAD per staff member for smaller groups, with a little more for larger gatherings.
